Board President's Message

I would personally like to thank everyone who attended our first Community Dialogue Session. I deeply appreciate your willingness to honestly express your concerns regarding the System Redesign taking place across Ohio and, here, in Tuscarawas County. As a Board, we are committed to partnering with you as we navigate this season of change.

Across this state and county, individuals with developmental disabilities, caregivers as well as service and support providers are navigating various changes. However, I want to take a moment of your time to reassure you that the TuscBDD workshop will remain open with the same schedule. Also, TuscBDD will continue to reinforce its commitment to person-centered planning by working with you and your loved ones to develop service and support plans which reflect your priorities. For those who desire, increased opportunities for appropriate community-based services and supports will be made available.

As a longtime resident of Tuscarawas County, I resonate strongly with the story of Ruth Carlson and other committed community members who tirelessly pursued greater opportunities for children with developmental disabilities in this county. These pioneers pushed beyond the limits of what was considered possible for children with developmental disabilities to establish many of the services and supports that we enjoy today.

Like our predecessors, TuscBDD looks forward to increasing appropriate opportunities for persons with developmental disabilities in this county. As we continue down this journey, I look forward to additional opportunities to hear from you as we together seek the betterment of individuals with developmental disabilities.

Thank you,

Stephanie Wilson
