Looking forward to 2017

As we begin another busy and exciting year in 2017, I would like to take this opportunity to start by thanking all of the wonderful people we serve and their families and caretakers.  All of you have taken each step of change right along with the Tuscarawas County Board of Developmental Disabilities (TuscBDD) and given us invaluable information and opportunity to continue to grow and improve the services and supports we provide to our neighbors and friends with developmental disabilities.

The January Board meeting brought about a few changes in the offices being held by a few of our Board Members.  Thomas Fantin is now Board President while Stephanie Wilson has taken on her new role as Vice President.  Jeremy Everett now holds the position of Recording Secretary.  Linda Patterson, Donna Wayt, Robert Glasgow and Ryan Yoss complete our board membership and all will continue providing the excellent leadership and dedication we've come to expect from this fine group of individuals.

One of my favorite times of the year is right around the corner.  March is Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month and we are in full planning mode to line up some really fun celebrations.  We will be bringing back a few favorite events from last year for the students and adults receiving services through TuscBDD as well as partnering with several community locations to expand and reinforce the importance of integration and inclusion for everyone.  Keep checking our website and Facebook page for the schedule of events.  If you would like to be added to our online mailing list to receive Email Blasts for these updates as well as future updates, send your email address to csapp@tuscbdd.org or call 330-339-9769.

On a personal note, I'm looking forward to continuing my involvement with the scheduling and implementation of monthly service provider training sessions.  I have learned so much from them, and with them, each month when we gather.  It has been a privilege getting to know the caring and talented people of our county who provide the hands-on services to the people TuscBDD supports.  Tuscarawas County is truly blessed to have 7 different Day Service Providers, all listed on our website along with their contact information.  Check them out or contact your Service & Support Administrator for assistance with finding out more about the choices your loved one has for day services and employment opportunities.  The SSA Unit can be contacted by calling 330-308-7173.

Keep in touch and keep checking in to find out what is new at TuscBDD.  We are an agency on the move!
