I Love Summer!

I don't know about you, but I love summer,  sun, beaches and swimming pools!
Did you know that the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities sends out Health and Welfare Alerts? All TuscBDD employees are mandated to read the alerts.

I want to share some of the tips from the last Health and Welfare Alert

Staying Safe in the Summer

Dehydration is the loss of body fluids and electrolytes. Watch for these signs:

- Headache - Nausea or vomiting - Blurred Vision - Fainting
- Confusion - Fever more than 102 - Dark Urine - Blistering of Skin

Remember to drink at least 8 glasses of water per day.

Sun Safety
Risk of sunburn is higher for people with fair skin, blue eyes, and red or blonde hair. Taking certain medications can also increase the risk of sunburn. To prevent sunburn:
• Avoid the sun between 10 AM and 4 PM
• Wear a hat, especially if your hair is thin on top
• Reapply sunscreen every 2 or 3 hours
• Remember that sunburns can happen on cloudy days

Hot Car Safety
It's dangerous to leave people unattended in vehicles during the summer months. It only takes a few minutes for someone to be at risk as body temperatures rise quickly.
I'm off to play in the sun – be safe this summer!
