New Philadelphia, September 9, 2024 – The Tuscarawas County Board of Developmental Disabilities (TuscBDD) is pleased to announce that it has been granted a three-year state accreditation, the highest honor awarded by the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities.

The Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities (DODD) conducts accreditation reviews to ensure County Boards adhere to established standards. Based on these reviews, boards are awarded accreditation ranging from one to three years. During the state accreditation process, TuscBDD showcased its commitment through presentations featuring stories and special guests highlighting priorities, projects, successes, and challenges. “Our entrance presentation included stories that illustrated the experiences of community members and emphasized TuscBDD’s dedication to technology, specialized youth services, diversity, and innovative services for individuals with developmental disabilities in Tuscarawas County,” said Kerri Silverthorn, TuscBDD Community Relations/Special Project Director.

The two-day review process involved a thorough evaluation of documentation and interviews with employees, people served, and advocates. Additionally, human resource files and the agency’s strategic plan were evaluated. Nate Kamban, Superintendent of TuscBDD, stated, “The entire TuscBDD team collaborates to develop innovative solutions for people with developmental disabilities within our community. Their tremendous effort to demonstrate our commitment and compassion is deeply appreciated, and I am genuinely grateful for their creativity and dedication.”
