NEWS RELEASE

New Philadelphia, December 11, 2019: Members of TuscBDD are working to increase the efforts of assisting adults and youth with developmental disabilities who are in crisis and need additional short-term services by shifting investments. Over the past year, TuscBDD has worked with a variety of providers to develop supports that locally serve individuals in crisis. “Much time has been spent listening to and talking with people at the TuscBDD Community Summit, school meetings, and partner agency meetings” expressed TuscBDD Superintendent, Nate Kamban. “The demand to provide crisis services in Tuscarawas County and to serve these individuals locally was made clear by community stakeholders.”

Because of this critical need for crisis services investments, TuscBDD will close the Charmed store in downtown New Philadelphia on February 14, 2020. “Because of the demand for services and supports for our changing population and system, we have made some very difficult business decisions; however, it is clear that we must take action and invest dollars into the critical demands for new and innovative services for our changing system” stated TuscBDD Business Operations Manager, Mark Schott. Another factor in the decision was the reality that private providers offer retail and job training opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities. We extend our gratitude to the employees, consignors, interns, and community at large for their support of this project.
