New Philadelphia, March 22, 2021: At the March 2021 regularly scheduled Board meeting for the Tuscarawas County Board of Developmental Disabilities (TuscBDD), members welcomed the addition of a newly-appointed TuscBDD Board member, Kat Arthurs. The Board is comprised of seven members. Ms. Arthurs was appointed by the Tuscarawas County Probate Judge and is currently retired from her two local businesses.

Ms. Arthurs is the mother to two adult children. The younger of the two children benefits from TuscBDD services and supports as well as day habilitation services.

In addition to her personal experiences, Ms. Arthurs has served in a variety of professional and volunteer roles involving advocating and supporting people with disabilities. She devoted her time by serving on the Board of the National Federation of the Blind of Ohio as both Secretary and Treasurer for many years. Additionally, Ms. Arthurs was a founding member of the Ohio Parent’s Division of the National Federation of the Blind, which offers many programs, services, and resources for parents of blind children. “I benefit daily by being involved with people with developmental disabilities,” expressed Arthurs. “Currently, I spend time coaching Special Olympic athletes and serve as a coach of football, basketball, and competition cheerleading squads.”

“We are pleased to have Kat taking on this role at the Board,” expressed TuscBDD Superintendent, Nate Kamban. “Kat has been involved in many capacities in the developmental disabilities field. Her professional involvement as well as her personal experience gives her the perspective that is needed to guide the Board as we continue to move forward.”
