Why is the Census Important to Tuscarawas County?

Fri, Jul 17th, 2020

In such an unprecedented time in the world, the 2020 Census has taken a back seat in the headlines. But completing your information for the census is critical to many things. For starters, the census is crucial for government funding to different agencies and organizations in Tuscarawas County. If the census reports that Tuscarawas County has fewer residents than it actually has, we can only receive funding based on those who completed the census. So if many residents don't complete the census, the county will be heavily underfunded - and those numbers will be used to determine funding for the next 10 years. Make sure you listen to this episode as County Commissioners Chris Abbuhl and Joe Sciarretti join Dave Haverfield from Job and Family Services to discuss the importance of the census. Jodi Salvo helps unravel some common misconceptions and concerns some people may have about the census, and our guests debunk any worries citizens may have.
