Healthy Relationships
Everyone is entitled to happy and healthy relationships. This includes romantic and sexual relationships. Individuals with DD/ID are often left out of the conversation and viewed as not able to participate in the same relationships as their non-disabled peers. They are also at least 7 times more likely to be assaulted, and by someone they are taught to trust, than their peers. Education on healthy relationships, bodily autonomy, and becoming sexual self-advocates is the best way to combat these statistics. Our goal is to provide factual information that will allow people with DD/ID to have happy and safe relationships.
