Behavior Support Assistant

Job Summary:

Under direct supervision of the Behavior Support Supervisor, the Behavior Support Assistant gathers and compiles data related to student behavior. Working primarily in public school districts, the Behavior Support Assistant models and implements behavior intervention strategies to assist school staff and parents in the implementation of a student’s Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP). Utilizes Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) methodologies to promote a positive school experience that encourages each student’s growth and achieves the least restrictive educational placement. A Behavior Support Assistant only intervenes physically when a student’s actions pose an extreme risk of harm to self or others.

Qualifications:

• Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education, Human Services or High School Diploma/GED and equivalent work experience required
• Prior experience working with youth with behavior needs and knowledge of behavior support strategies and techniques preferred
• Must acquire Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification within 90-days of hire and maintain this certification throughout the course of employment
• Must hold and maintain a current, valid driver license
• Must maintain insurability with automobile insurance carriers
• Must acquire and maintain Board approved first aid and CPR certification
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule as required
• Must pass BCI/FBI background check
