TuscBDD Partners with United Way of Tuscarawas County to Offer Bridges Out of Poverty Course

New Philadelphia, February 14, 2018: TuscBDD and United Way of Tuscarawas County would like to invite you to attend a day of training and presentation for Bridges Out of Poverty being held on March 6, 2018 at the TuscBDD Service & Support Center located at 610 Commercial Avenue SW in New Philadelphia. Ms. Jennifer Hedinger will be joining us from OhioGuidestone and leading us through this informative presentation. OhioGuidestone's mission is to provide pathways for growth, achievement and lifelong success for future generations through education and self-reliance to become contributing members of strong communities.

If you are not aware of Bridges Out of Poverty, it deals with reducing the social costs of poverty, strengthening the workforce, and building a prosperous and sustainable community. This innovative workshop will feature the impact that poverty has on individuals, organizations and communities and provide concrete tools and specific strategies to prevent, reduce and alleviate poverty in an interactive group setting. "We are excited to offer this opportunity to the community because both TuscBDD and United Way share a common goal, which aims to assist individuals and families in Tuscarawas County reach their full potential," expressed President and CEO of United Way of Tuscarawas County, Robin Waltz. "Both United Way and TuscBDD seek to improve the lives of people here in Tuscarawas County through community partnerships and collaboration, and that is why we want people to have the opportunity to attend this class for free," stated TuscBDD Superintendent, Nate Kamban. "This course is an opportunity for community members to learn new strategies on breaking the cycle of poverty," further shared Kamban. The presentation will be a 6 hour session lasting from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with a one hour break for lunch. There is no charge for those wanting to attend; however, CEU's are available for a $10.00 fee to be paid the day of the training. A workbook will be supplied for free as part of the presentation. Additional books from Bridges Out of Poverty will be available that day for a cost of $19.00 for those who are interested in purchasing them.
