PRESS RELEASE

TuscBDD Superintendent Will Receive Distinguished Service Award at the 38th Annual OACB Convention

New Philadelphia, November 23, 2021: TuscBDD Superintendent, Nate Kamban, is this year’s winner of the Distinguished Service Award presented by the Ohio Association of County Boards (OACB), a statewide advocacy and trade group representing all 88 County Boards of DD. The award will be presented at the 38th Annual OACB Convention during a special event on Thursday, December 2nd at 5:00 p.m. Convention registration is not required to attend the awards presentation.

Commissioned in 2006, this Annual Award recognizes a county board employee, board member, volunteer, or community member for their outstanding service and commitment to their local County Board of DD. Award winners were chosen by an esteemed panel of awards committee members based on the strength of their nominations.

At the November TuscBDD Board meeting, Board members recognized Kamban’s dedication to the people served by the County Board. “We are fortunate to have Nate’s servant leadership in our community,” shared TuscBDD Board Member, Stephanie Wilson. “Nate’s greatest qualities include passion, empathy, and integrity. His ingenuity and creativity are key characteristics that help him think outside the box to come up with creative solutions, and he doesn’t know the word can’t.” TuscBDD Board President, Thomas Fantin, praised Kamban for his ability to balance responsibility with innovation. “I especially appreciate how Nate and his team work diligently to evaluate service gaps and identify creative solutions that are sustainable long-term,” shared Fantin. “I am humbled by this recognition and thankful for the opportunity to highlight our wonderful county,” expressed Kamban. “Serving individuals with disabilities in the community that I call home has been one of the greatest blessings of my life. I am indebted to my family, co-workers and the individuals and families with whom we partner for the encouragement that they have provided me on this leadership journey.”

The award ceremony will take place at the Hilton Columbus at Easton, Columbus, Ohio on December 2nd at 5:00 p.m. Anyone interested in attending can contact OACB by calling (614)-431-0616.
